Winters are depressing, and Finland has long winters. Despite this, the finns have created one the most interesting countries of the world and you want to spend your holyday in Finland, be sure to check out this video. Learn, Share, Subscribe ------------------------------------------------ Watch the entire series here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbZJ71IJGFRTa_XMM9a4hDh2Yo9CsZzOR Follow: https://plus.google.com/+blinder00 https://twitter.com/Sebastian2Go https://www.facebook.com/official7facts ------------------------------------------------ In this brief video you can find seven little known facts about Finland. Helsinki, the capital of Finland, is one of Northern Europe’s cosy and tranquil capitals. Where is Finland? It is a Baltic state, although geographically part of the Scandinavian Peninsula, with a language that’s related to both Estonian and Hungarian. More information about the video content bellow: 1. In Finland, traffic violation fines are based on the drivers’ incomes. In 2002, a Nokia executive was fined $103,000 for going 45 in a 30 zone. Another person was given 60,000$ for going 65 in a 50 zone. They know how to make people slow down over there. 2. Finns are the people with the highest consumption of coffee in the world, at 12 kilos per person per year. Across all age demographics, an impressive 14% of men and 6% of women reported consuming more than 10 cups of coffee per day! 3. Finns are the unquestioned champions of sauna!Think about it: 3.3 million saunas for 5.3 million people. More than one sauna for every other citizen. There are saunas everywhere in Finland: Every newer apartment is equipped with a sauna, all hotels, gyms and office buildings have them. 4. Finland has the most heavy metal bands per capita in the world. While Sweden and Norway have only 27 heavy metal bands per 100.000 inhabitants, Finland boasts double as much, 54 bands per 100.000. 5. Finlands educational system is the best in the world. It’s a system that goes against the evaluation-driven, centralized model that much of the Western world uses. They rarely take exams or do homework until they are well into their teens. The children are not measured at all for the first six years of their education. As a result the difference between weakest and strongest students is the smallest in the World. 6. 10 per cent of Finland is missing. Soviet soldiers invaded Finland during the Second World War. The Nordic country later struck back with a controversial ‘co-belligerency pact’ with Nazi Germany, in which the nations were not allies, but agreed to be fighting the same foe.The Finns fought the Soviet Union to a standstill on the border, but had to cede 10 per cent of their eastern territory, including the second largest city, Vyborg. Post-war Finland had to cope with the resettlement of hundreds of thousands of refugees from the lost lands. Finnish remained an official language of the Republic of Karelia (the Russian state that includes much of the lost land) until the 1980s. 7. The Finns invented the Molotov cocktail. At the onset of the Second World War, Stalin demanded to use Finnish territory for strategic purposes – he ordered that the Hanko Peninsula would serve as port for the Soviet Navy. The Finns refused, however, and Vyacheslav Molotov, the Soviet foreign minister, declared that it was ‘time for the soldiers’ to do the talking. Some 65 men, women and children died in the first bombing raid on Helsinki, while Molotov snidely remarked that Soviet aircraft were only dropping ‘food parcels’. Later in the war, Finnish troops returned the insult by hurling ‘Molotov cocktails’ at Soviet tanks. Concern about neighboring Russia is growing in Finland. The Finnish ministry of defense has now written to about a million reservists. The letter tells them which unit or regiment they would be assigned to in the event of a military crisis.

VIDEO TITLE:FINLAND TOP 10 CITIES 2017,10 Best Places to Visit in Finland Finland (/ˈfɪnlənd/ (About this sound listen); Finnish: Suomi [suomi] (About this sound listen); Swedish: Finland [ˈfɪnland]), officially the Republic of Finland,[7] is a sovereign state in Northern Europe. A peninsula with the Gulf of Finland to the south and the Gulf of Bothnia to the west, the country has land borders with Sweden to the northwest, Norway to the north, and Russia to the east. Estonia is south of the country across the Gulf of Finland. Finland is a Nordic country situated in the geographical region of Fennoscandia, which also includes Scandinavia. Finland's population is 5.5 million (2014), and the majority of the population is concentrated in the southern region.[8] 88.7% of the population is Finnish people who speak Finnish, a Uralic language unrelated to the Scandinavian languages; the second major group are the Finland-Swedes (5.3%). In terms of area, it is the eighth largest country in Europe and the most sparsely populated country in the European Union. Finland is a parliamentary republic with a central government based in the capital Helsinki, local governments in 311 municipalities,[9] and an autonomous region, the Åland Islands. Over 1.4 million people live in the Greater Helsinki metropolitan area, which produces a third of the country's GDP. From the late 12th century, Finland was an integral part of Sweden, a legacy reflected in the prevalence of the Swedish language and its official status. In the spirit of the notion of Adolf Ivar Arwidsson (1791–1858), "we are not Swedes, we do not want to become Russians, let us therefore be Finns", the Finnish national identity started to become established. Nevertheless, in 1809, Finland was incorporated into the Russian Empire as the autonomous Grand Duchy of Finland. In 1906, Finland became the second nation in the world to give the right to vote to all adult citizens and the first in the world to give all adult citizens the right to run for public office.[10][11] Following the 1917 Russian Revolution, Finland declared itself independent. In 1918, the fledgling state was divided by civil war, with the Bolshevik-leaning "Reds" supported by the equally new Soviet Russia, fighting the "Whites", supported by the German Empire. After a brief attempt to establish a kingdom, the country became a republic. During World War II, the Soviet Union sought repeatedly to occupy Finland, with Finland losing parts of Karelia, Salla and Kuusamo, Petsamo and some islands, but retaining independence. Finland joined the United Nations in 1955 and established an official policy of neutrality. The Finno-Soviet Treaty of 1948 gave the Soviet Union some leverage in Finnish domestic politics during the Cold War era. Finland joined the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 1969, the NATO Partnership for Peace on 1994,[12] the European Union in 1995, the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council in 1997,[12] and finally the Eurozone at its inception, in 1999. Finland was a relative latecomer to industrialization, remaining a largely agrarian country until the 1950s. After World War II, the Soviet Union demanded war reparations from Finland not only in money but also in material such as ships and machinery. This forced Finland to industrialize. It rapidly developed an advanced economy while building an extensive Nordic-style welfare state, resulting in widespread prosperity and one of the highest per capita incomes in the world.[13] However, Finnish GDP growth has been negative in 2012–2014 (−0.698% to −1.426%), with a preceding nadir of −8% in 2009.[14] Finland is a top performer in numerous metrics of national performance, including education, economic competitiveness, civil liberties, quality of life, and human development.[15][16][17][18] In 2015, Finland was ranked first in the World Human Capital[19] and the Press Freedom Index, and as the most stable country in the world during 2011–2016 in the Fragile States Index,[20] and second in the Global Gender Gap Report.[21] A large majority of Finns are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church,[22] though freedom of religion is guaranteed under the Finnish Constitution. In the wake of plans for a new Mosque to be built in the centre of Helsinki, an anti-immigration rally was held, Saturday. The protest, branded 'Islamophobic' by counter-protesters, formed in opposition to the building plans in the Finnish capital. Protesters held banners and chanted slogans denouncing the plan. However, the 'anti-racist' demo who met them also held banners decrying their 'prejudice' and 'discrimination.' China and Finland confirmed the establishment of a future-oriented new-type cooperative partnership in a joint declaration issued on Wednesday during Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to the Nordic country. Hailing the progress China and Finland have made in bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1950, the document said the two countries agreed to further enhancing political mutual trust and expanding and deepening cooperation to the benefit of the two peoples. The future-oriented new-type cooperative partnership between China and Finland is complementary to the China-European Union (EU) comprehensive strategic partnership, it said. Finland appreciates China's initiative to build the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and supports China and the EU in promoting connectivity between Asia and Europe, building a grand Asia-Europe market and boosting the flow of people, business, capital, technology, as well as information and communication between the two continents. The two countries agreed to maintain high-level exchanges between the two sides to enhance mutual understanding and trust, it said. According to the declaration, the two sides will continue to broaden and deepen pragmatic cooperation in such areas as two-way trade and investment, innovation, environmental protection and urbanization. China and Finland are committed to deepening exchanges and cooperation on innovation to make it an important engine of sustainable economic and social development of the two countries, and will further promote cooperation on high-level scientific research and innovation in areas of mutual interest. The document said people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges are an important part of bilateral relationship and are of great importance for its long-term development. China and Finland are ready to enhance people-to-people exchanges in education, research and innovation cooperation. The two sides will deepen cooperation in new-type urbanization and green ecological smart city construction, focusing on sustainable city planning and construction technology, urban adaptation to climate change, energy efficiency of buildings and green building technology, and green construction materials. China and Finland are committed to working together to reduce or limit greenhouse gas emissions, promote sustainable development and strengthen climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts. The declaration said China and Finland shared the view that economic activities in the Arctic area should take into full consideration the protection and sustainable use of its natural resources, given the vulnerability of the Arctic environment. China and Finland agreed to further tourism cooperation, support the collaboration of national tourism organizations, and promote the development of related industries in order to enhance the scale of two-way visits. The two countries expressed their commitment to the further promotion of exchanges and cooperation in the field of sport. Taking the opportunity of Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, China and Finland will promote the exchanges in winter sports and the cooperation in organizing the Olympic Games, it said. The declaration also touched upon cooperation in forestry, agriculture, transport, and information and communication technology. The Chinese president arrived in the Finnish capital of Helsinki on Tuesday for a state visit, the first by a Chinese head of state to the Nordic country in 22 years. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20170406/8047180.shtml#!language=1 Subscribe us on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CCTVPlus CCTV+ official website: http://www.cctvplus.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cctv-news-content Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewsContent.CCTVPLUS Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCTV_Plus
